It should be another good day in the sun. Street posters are the most rewarding part to my job, seeing my work line the streets. Lovely x kimband kim band lovedbyband

Mary Mary quite contrary. How does your garden grow? With silver bells and cockle shells. And pretty maids all in a row. Beneath the seemingly simple facade of this rhyme about Mary’s garden is a plot entrenched in religious symbolism
“Mary Mary quite contrary” “Mary” alluded to in this traditional English nursery rhyme is presumed to be Mary Tudor, or Bloody Mary, who was the daughter of King Henry VIII. Queen Mary was a staunch Catholic yet a tormenter and therefore her way of ruling England during her reign was seen as very contradictive.
“How does your garden grow?” The garden referred to is an allusion to graveyards, which were increasing in size with those who dared to continue to adhere to the Protestant faith, known as Protestant martyrs. They were seen as opponents of the Queen.
“With silver bells and cockle shells” Silver bells and cockle shells were actually instruments of torture. The 'Silver Bells' were thumbscrews, which crushed off the thumb between two hard surfaces by the tightening a screw. The 'Cockleshells' were believed to be instruments of torture, which were attached to the genitals, along with iron masks.
“And pretty maids all in a row” "Maids" referred to a mechanical device which beheaded people (now known as the guillotine). These guillotines were at that time called “the Maiden”.
Before our time large framed paintings around your house indicated wealth and in power
The blood line of Queen Mary I, unmistakably ran the wrong way. Their reign in power consisted of blood being shed. It is interesting to note that executions during her reign totaled less than 300 an insignificant amount compared to the executions ordered by her father King Henry VIII, which are believed to have numbered tens of thousands. Mary’s first husband, Francis II King of France, has been described as both mentally and physically weak and therefore making her the powerful leader she was.
Im a bit of everything really, A Creative / Art Director / Brand Manager / Graphic designer / Interior designer and Stylist. I love creating environments in any way or form... Creating is what my passion is and getting rather personal with my work is my fav part. I am currently doing limited amounts of freelance work as I'm working full time at Glasson's as Head of Creative, taking the brand into a new lease of life as a confident high fashion competitor. Thanks for taking a min to look at my work.
